CONTEMPORARY DANCE
Contemporary dance at the Backstage Academy is
the underdog style that at first may seem abstract
and modern but once you get the bug there is no
going back!
Contemporary dance is sensational, stunning,
energetic, and passionate and the ultimate dance
style for any performer who wants to engage their
emotions through their dance work.
The contemporary dance technique focuses on
developing technical ability which makes any
dancer stand out from the crowd and it is fantastic
to learn for the sheer enjoyment factor but it is
also highly essential for any dancer wishing to
pursue a career in performing arts as it is becoming
one of the key styles which is recognised in all
higher education and in the industry today.
Learning contemporary dance at the Academy will be a breath-
experience by pushing your physicality to develop a musicality of bringing
music and emotion to life. With dance shows such as ‘Got to Dance’ and
companies such as the 2Faced Dance Company who we work with regularly,
this amazing dance style is just the beginning for this style to show the
world just how powerful it can be.
Classes are delivered in a highly unique way be each class becoming a
dance company where dance pieces are created ready for performance within
our large scale youth company productions and showcases where the dance
work is performed in full costume, using props and performance elements
such as lighting added
to give amazing performances.
Becoming a contemporary dancer will develop physical
dance
technique, fitness, co-
learning techniques of Martha Graham and Merce
Cunningham.
Contemporary dance is ideal for anyone to join from
beginner to advanced levels. So with this stunning dance
style making its way into the commercial industry with a
bang, why not give it a go? Once you’re hooked they’ll be
no going back, this style is addictive!
